"Dha" in Badugu is generally used between friends, relatives, elderly people and like minded individuals.

It is not a word to be used while addressing a public gathering or in a forum where large number of people from different walks of life and age groups congregate.

In my simile, One person talks to another and the conversation is between two like minded individuals. They are friends. Hence, "Dha" is acceptable between them. If the same people used "Dha" in a public gathering, it is considered an offensive word showing disrespect to rest of the crowd.

So, if u intend to use "Dha", you need to be specific to the individual whom are pointing to and not be general.

To put it in Tamil...

"DHA" ENNUM BADUGU VARTHAIYAI IDAM, PORUL, YEVAL ARINDHU UBOYOGIKKA VENDUM.

If you find an incongruency in what I said, let me know. Iam always open to the views of others.

"dhaa" is indeed for boys...and we have "nne" for girls(YenaNe hegire?)
But "dhaa" is becoming similar to "guys"...
Sometimes we hear "Come on guys grow up"....actually there will also be girls in that group...
So if I ask "EaNa dhaa hegiyaara" in a forum....it ALSO means....
"EaNa nNe HegiyAAra"...

So in that aspect....."dhaa" is similar...but I agree that it shows some disrespect although friendly(we do not ask our Dad "EaNa Dha hegirae") but "nNe" is surprisingly NOT disrespectful (we ask our Mom "EaNa nNe uDhaka idHu")...
