Hi All,

The North East monsoon fury has struck Tamil Nadu yet again in what has become almost an annual feature. The casualty figure in Ooty has risen to 42. Total casualty in the state has touched 75. Ooty is cut off as the road to this hill station has been breached.

In the Nilgiris District 35 people have died in landslides, 33 people have died in floods across the state.

"Since 1978 we have not seen this kind of a very heavy rainfall in Ooty," said a resident.

It was with a great sense of loss when I heard of land collapses in nilgiris.

I wanted to let you know that you have our greatest sympathy, and our heart(s) are truly saddened.

will always remain within our hearts, and we have included and you are all in our daily prayers.

Our sincere thoughts and prayers for all.

With our deepest sympathy,

All NAMASKARA,
FYI…
I read this below comment in Dinamalar (by one of our Mamma N Bellie,Coimbatore) it is TRUE..TRUE...TRUE..

http://www.dinamalar.com/Political_detail.asp?news_id=15137
---------------------------------------------------------

ஏன் என்றால், இந்த makkalin ancients located the right places to construct thier houses, not distructing the nature.
The British people themselves consulted the Badaga People to select their house sites when they started constructing houses th them.
But our Politicians created a number of colonies for the migrated people, mostly came from the planes of Tamil Naadu, Andra Pradesh, and Karnaataka, in mind of their bulk votes.
Most of this people are very poor and innocent, and believed the politicians.
Local Politicians mostly among the mgrated people pressurise their political bosses to capture vacent lands, like puramboke, and revenue landas, and even to aquire the lands of the nilgiri residents.
Almost all these kind of lands are situated in Unsuitable places for construct houses.
Now you can see most of the areas affected in this land slides are among these colonies only.

Hi Gokul,

We Badagas have already lost the oppurtunity of being elected to the Lok Sabha as our region is now under the reserved constituency.
Now I think it is up to the Hatti people/ Gowdas to provide stern resistance for the rising of colonies like to ones Mr.Bellie was mentioning about.
Let us find more ways to safeguard our Hattis from such natural disasters.

Regrads,
Mahesh
