Freedom

August fifteenth.
Independence day.
Freedom from occupation of the land
by aliens.Celebrations.

But what about freedom
from exploitation of gender and hunger
from fights over caste and religion
from inequality based on creed and region

India, my great land of legends
when are you going to be really FREE?

As long as people of this great country dont change their MINDSET, nothing will work, there is no freedom.

The civic sense in the country's capital is the worst, but destiny of the nation is created here! What a contradiction! Shame. For that matter, no city is better off.

Thats why we need people like Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, to propel the young generation to the next RENAISSANCE.

When people debate asking what Kalam did for the nation, I find it quite surprising. When you can fire a million thoughts in the right direction, what else you want to do? That is satisfaction enough, that of a noble teacher. No areas lost, nothing conceded, just filling the thoughts of individuals who start questioning themselves.

UNLESS I CHANGE, MY COUNTRY WILL NEVER CHANGE. This is the mantra, that will propel us towards real freedom.

I agree with you EBHARI. One hundred percent. Having lived in New Delhi for over 20 years and still having a house there, I can understand how you must be feeling. The problem is how can we change these "CHANGERS" [politicians & Babus]?

Yes, unless the MINDSET of INDIANS change, nothing can be changed.

About the great "PEOPLE's (ex-)PRESIDENT" APJ Abdul Kalam, his greatest contribution is his attempt to 'FIRE A MILLION THOUGHTS'. " UNLESS I CHANGE, MY COUNTRY WILL NEVER CHANGE. This is the mantra, that will propel us towards real freedom" as you beautifully put it.

Here is a poem I had written some time ago 'FIRED' by his speeches.

The Power to Change

[ Dedicated to my mother]

Give me the power to dare
to reach the heights with no fear,
Instead of meekly stand and stare.

Give me the courage to defend
the innocent from injustice of any kind,
Instead of simply sit back and pretend.

Give the strengh to protect
the unique and wild to keep them intact,
Instead of finding excuses to destruct.

Give me the heart to offer
whatever is left in the coffer,
Instead of walking past those who suffer.

Give me the chance to dream
Give me the courage to dare
Give me the conviction to do.

GIVE ME THE POWER TO CHANGE,
THE POWER TO CHANGE MYSELF,
TO CHANGE MYSELF FOR THE BETTER
.

Hi EBHARI , Thank you ever so much.

I have always enjoyed reading your posts in badaga.org and on more than one occasion, they have inspired me to think 'out of the box ' and if possible put them in writing.

Thanks once again.

I enjoy reading the posts of EBHARI & DRRAMS on every topic. I call them 'Committed Badagas'. They have their own individual styles and views and never hesitate(d) to express them.

One of the most fascinating 'duels' between them can be found in the "BADAGA HAIKU" http://www.badaga.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=404

To them, I would like to dedicate the following poem .

Prelude.....I was sitting all by myself with not a soul around at my forest land [not farm land]at a place called "OKKANADU", half way down to Kedde from Kundah Manjoor [past Keya Kundhe], facing Hiria Seege & Kinnakore Hattis on the beautiful hill on the opposite side of the valley.

There was[still is] no electricity, no TV, no mobile ,no phone..no nothing. Just me and THE NATURE...

With the clouds creating 'modern' collages in the sky in that chilly but bright morning... a perfect setting for a not so perfect 'poet' to indulge in thoughts and dreams of the days gone by......

Creator or the Creation ?

[To Tara]

Out in the lush green lawn
at the beautiful crimson dawn
It was pleasant and peaceful
in those mountains grand and graceful

The constantly moving clouds weaving different designs
playing hide and seek with sun's golden beams
he was waiting for the girl of his dreams
to gift her the perfect painting of his love

His brush strokes so smooth and soft
blood rushing through veins and paints covering finger tips,
caressed the 'body' curves with colours so beautiful
as he desired no harm or pain to 'her'!

SHE came in like a gentle morning breeze
staring shyly at the portrait of self, pleasantly surprised,
pressed her soft lips against his and whispered with a pounding heart
"why do I need the creation when I have the creator ?"

Dear JP Anna,

For a moment, I dreamt of JOHN KEATS with a begging bowl in front of you! icon_smile.gif

I have commented on this poem earlier too...SENSUOUSLY SUBLIME.

To simply put in Dr.APJ's signature style...FANTASTIC!

BTW, Iam honoured by your compliment, keeps me going. Thankyou.

My personal gratitude to you for pumping in a KNOWLEDGE TRIVIA to this forum...so here is one for you...

lonely evenings and your writings

blended with ounzes of aggression

slices of articulation

pinch of humour and

loads of conviction;

Its an intoxication.

Should I call it a Veggie mocktail

or a Fauji cocktail? icon_biggrin.gif

Hi all

I deem it a great pleasure to express my well nourished sense of gratitude to our JP maam for dedicating the aforementioned sketched art with the help of nature and thoughts as paper and pen, respectively. Millions of thanks to him once again.....and I don't know whatelse to say/do except "KaaluGa aDDa bhuBbaDhu"

As some one said elsewhere

Winners dont do different things
They do things differently

No doubt he is one among them and we are - indeed- fortunate to have him around this site.
